LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top three remained the same with Colorado Christian and West Alabama joining the top 10 in this week’s 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. North Georgia continued as the unanimous No. 1, while West Texas A&M and Tampa sit at No. 2 and 3, respectively.
The trio atop the poll went a combined 10-0. The NightHawks (16-2) won all five of their contests at home, sweeping King in a non-conference twinbill before taking all three from USC Beaufort in the Peach Belt Conference opening series. The Lady Buffs (14-1) secured their second straight Lone Star Conference sweep with a trifecta of wins at UT Permian Basin, while the Spartans (11-2) captured two non-conference wins over Bridgeport.
Idle Rogers State (10-4) made a big leap to No. 4 with Grand Valley State staying put at No. 5 and UT Tyler moving up to No. 6. The Lakers (6-2) posted a 4-1 mark at the Lewis Dome Tournament, while the Patriots (13-5) went 5-1 in LSC play, including a three-game sweep of then-No. 22 Angelo State.
Cal State San Marcos dipped to No. 7 after dropping three-of-four in a closely-contested California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series against Sonoma State and No. 8 UIndy (9-2) turned in a 3-1 mark at the Blue Ridge Battle in Evansville, Ind.
The new faces in the top 10, No. 9 Colorado Christian and No. 10 West Alabama, each swept their respective conference series. The Cougars (16-1) pushed their win streak to 10 games with four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference triumphs at Fort Lewis, while the Tigers (15-4) took all three home matchup against West Florida in Gulf South Conference action.
Mississippi College and idle Wilmington fell out of the top 10. The Choctaws (11-3) dropped from No. 6 to No. 13 after Auburn-Montgomery took two of three in GSC play. The Wildcats (1-0) sit at No. 11.
The 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA’s eight regions. Results are through Sunday, Feb. 18. The poll will be revealed on Tuesdays at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.
