The National Fastpitch Coaches A
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced today the Academic Top
Ten teams, based on cumulative team grade-point averages submitted by NFCA member
head coaches for the 2003-04 academic year.
Central Missouri State University posted the highest team GPA in Division II,
and its 3.838 was the highest GPA submitted by a collegiate team. Eastern
Michigan University posted the highest GPA in Division I while Drew University
led Division III.
The Savannah College of Art and Design posted a 3.740 cumulative GPA to lead
NAIA institutions. Johnson County Community College (Kan.) led all Junior
Colleges while Gulliver Preparatory School (Fla.) led high schools (weighted)
for the second consecutive year. Newark (Ill.) led non-weighted high schools
with a 3.800 team GPA.
In addition to naming the top ten academic teams in NCAA Divisions I, II and
III, as well as NAIA, Junior Colleges and High Schools, the NFCA recognized over
2,700 scholar-athletes that posted better than 3.5 GPAs last year.
